Free Rhythm Timing Test for Musicians

Test whether you rush or drag with a free browser rhythm timing test. Listen, tap through click gaps, and review early and late hits in milliseconds.

Rhythm IQ is a short listen-and-tap exercise. Hear a reference click, keep the pulse when the click drops out, and compare each tap with the expected beat.

What this tool includes

Check rushing and dragging

Review early and late taps in milliseconds instead of relying only on how the take felt.

Practice click gaps

Keep counting through silent bars, then hear whether your pulse still lines up when the click returns.

Choose the rhythm

Test a straight pocket, syncopation, a simple polyrhythm, or displaced accents at three difficulty levels.

Calibrate device delay

Use the latency control when browser, speaker, or wireless-audio delay makes the visual result feel offset.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose a test mode and difficulty.
  2. Listen to the reference click before the tap phase begins.
  3. Tap or press the spacebar while keeping the pulse through the click gaps.
  4. Review the timing graph and average early or late deviation.
  5. Repeat at the same difficulty before increasing the tempo.

Practice tips

  • Use wired audio or your device speaker when possible; Bluetooth can add noticeable delay.
  • Treat the result as practice feedback from the current device and setup, not a fixed measure of musical ability.
  • Repeat the same mode several times and look for a consistent trend before changing your practice.
