How to use this tool

  1. Open Hand Jam: Launch the free browser instrument and choose the Beat Challenge entry point.
  2. Start the groove: Press Beat Challenge to start the shared rhythm and show the first target.
  3. Follow the target: Play I, V, IV, then V with a clear gesture, chord pad, or number key.
  4. Read the feedback: Watch target score and timing score separately after each confirmed change.
  5. Replay the round: Repeat the loop and aim for more on-beat changes without losing the musical feel.

How is timing scored?

Hand Jam compares the confirmed chord change with the nearest shared groove beat and labels it On beat, Close, or Needs timing. Target accuracy and timing accuracy stay separate.

Yes. Use the chord pads or number keys; they use the same beat-locked response as hand gestures.

Can I retry a missed chord?

Yes. A wrong chord keeps the current target in place, so you can correct it without restarting the round.
