Kits with a lineage
Boom is the 808 family: a round kick that keeps ringing, a snappy snare and grainy metallic hats. Warehouse is 909 confidence. Backbeat is the Linn and DMX pop sound. Dust is twelve-bit grit. Lounge is the small, patient CR-78. Sub is the modern pitched, driven 808 bass.
Feel you can hear
Swing works the way the MPC made famous: the off sixteenths move to a percentage of the eighth note. Feel models a drummer, not noise: tight hats, a backbeat that lays back the harder it is hit, ghost notes that push.
A record chain built in
Drive, glue compression, a short room and a tape roll-off sit after the kit, so the first thing you hear sounds finished. Per-voice grit brings the sample-machine edge without sampling anything.
